Our Story
For David and Marcy Strong, Solomon Valley Venue is more than a place — it’s a continuation of their story and a space
where life debuts.
Young love turned lifelong partners, the Strongs have been married for over 30 years and are proud parents of three children and five grandchildren. After years of traveling and working across the country, they returned to Kansas—drawn by the peaceful beauty of the prairie and a desire to raise their family near David’s hometown of Abilene, in a place that felt grounded and familiar.
Their home, once a working Greyhound farm, became a haven for more than just their own family. From 1992 to 2015, they opened their hearts to eight foster children. Since 2016, they’ve hosted six international exchange students from Italy, Mexico, Japan, and China — each one becoming a lasting part of their extended family.
Inspired by their Kansas roots, the Strongs planted a seasonal sunflower field and reimagined the land as a place where others could gather, connect, and celebrate. Whether it’s a wedding, reunion, retreat, or special occasion, Solomon Valley Venue was built to host life’s most meaningful moments — with warmth, hospitality, and a true sense of home.
Our Promise
We’ve built Solomon Valley Venue to be more than just a backdrop for your event — it’s a space where every detail is handled with heart.
Our promise is simple: to provide a warm, welcoming setting where you feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Whether you’re planning a wedding, a reunion, or a quiet gathering, we’ll meet you with the kind of care and hospitality we’d give our own family.
You bring the moments — we’ll make sure the setting rises to meet them.
